SafeNet Announces Miniature Sentinel HASP HL MaxMicro Licensing Key to Provide Maximum Security
~ The Latest Addition to the Sentinel Family Affords ISVs Maximum Security in a Low-Profile Solution ~

SYDNEY, Aust. -- December 5, 2011 -- SafeNet, Inc., a worldwide leader in data protection, today announced the general availability of the ultra-small Sentinel HASP HL MaxMicro licensing dongle. The new Sentinel MaxMicro key offers the same robust protection and flexible licensing enforcement as the traditional Sentinel HASP key; however its sleek new design is just a quarter of the size -- protruding only 7.6 mm from the computer -- making it virtually invisible and dramatically decreasing the possibility of an accidental or deliberate break. MaxMicro joins a full suite of HASP keys that ensure the protection of intellectual property -- from piracy, theft or reverse-engineering -- and enforce a variety of licensing models, including perpetual, feature-based, pay-per-use, time-based and custom licensing.

MaxMicro, with its 15.6 mm X 19.1 mm footprint, is SafeNetís smallest hardware key. It is an ideal solution for use cases in which reduced visibility minimises the likelihood of tampering and accidental or deliberate breakage, including use with notebooks, embedded systems, medical devices, machinery controls and other equipment with stationary licensing keys.

Like most of SafeNetís award-winning Sentinel HASP family of hardware-based protection keys, MaxMicro includes a full complement of robust security and cryptographic algorithms, including a unique 32-bit ID, 128-bit AES encryption and support for 64,000 encryption keys.

Benefits of the Sentinel HASP MaxMicro key include:

-- Inconspicuous licensing key protects against accidental or deliberate contact -- protecting the key itself from breakage and reducing the risk of tampering;

-- Ultra-small form factor enables software vendors to meet the demands of markets in which key size is critical -- as keys are typically left in the deviceís port;

-- MaxMicro provides strong software protection with a unique 32-bit ID number, an on-chip encryption engine and a 128-bit AES encryption algorithm, and control over 231 unique features per key;

-- MaxMicro permits remote update of keys in the field; and

-- MaxMicro is the only miniature USB licensing key to contain ribs for easy insertion and removal, combining the user experience benefits of both regular-size and miniature keys.
